Another L.A. venture!

Jenny and I decided to do something crazy today and went to downtown L.A. with our KIDS to do some shopping.  She goes down to the fabric district once in awhile to get her material and I had heard that 12th street in the garment district is great!  Since they are within blocks of each other, we ventured together and I must conclude... lots of junk BUT some gems to be found in the rough!  I LOVED it!  I recommend going there for sure.  And if you ever want a companion to help "dig" and find the good stuff... I am always up for it!  Here are some highlights of the day.

Cate and Haven in Michael Levines fabric store!  They had some unique things.
Jenny loading her fabric into the car before we headed to 12th street!
A man on the street with a cute puppy.
Should I try on this gaggy purple wig?
Why not... I have always been a Britney Spears fan!
The shoes that Haven wore there were hurting so we bought her these... a whopping $1.99!  Not bad huh?
And I let her pick out a junky 99 cent wallet!
Haven & Berkley's 4th of July dresses... $10!
Jeweled hair clips.... 50 cents for a 2 pack!
A jewelry store had all 99 cent accessories!  Heaven!!!
A new basic white blouse to conquer the heat in this summer... $11!
A "Hype" brand dress for Haven w/ Nordstrom tags on for $50... I paid $10!
A dress for myself... $12!!!  How could I pass that up?

Too bad you weren't cool enough to be my friend sooner or you could have been enjoyin' the back streets of LA for years now. Next time you best be bringing me along for some Sanrio Surprise purchases. xoxo

I am up for bargain shopping anytime. It's always better to have two people digging for deals then just one. Call me next time you have the urge to go up there. You got some great stuff.

Other than the price of gas to get up to LA, I'd say that was great deal! lol

Those fourth of July dresses are adorable! Great deals for sure on the jewelry, glad you had fun!

Looks like a successful day shopping. That always makes things fun. You guys are brave bringing all 4 kids. You gals have your hands full.
Just curious, did you buy a matching dress for Katie? ;)

Sounds like the perfect place to start your broken necklace collection:) Keep them and we will bead next time I see you. I love the dress you picked up for yourself. Very fun!

Lisa... funny you should say that. As I was putting on a pair of the earrings... they bit the dust already! I will for sure save the beads to re-string with you. I give those necklaces one wear. 99 cents? What can you do?

How is it that we were on the same trip, but your experience was SO different than mine! You forgot to mention having to pay a quarter to use the disgusting bathroom, having the kids whine all day about how their legs and feet hurt, spending a bunch of time in crappy 99 cent jewelry stores (Oh I forgot, you actually LIKED that) and oh yeah, I almost forgot,I spent a fortune!
Good times though. Next time, though, No big kids! Or maybe no kids at all.

Summer... if we lived closer I would hire you to be my personal shopper and find me good deals. You're a pro!

i too love tit down there, and my mom and sisters go like at least once a month! we buy fabric at ML and dig through all the crap to find some fun things. my mom used to own a boutique in huntington so we had her wholesale license and would go clothes, purse, jewelry shopping and get everything for wholesale! to bad she sold her store so we no longer have that luxery =( still fun though. i however would be skeptical bringing my kids there, just a street or two away is a VERY sketchy neighborhood, you have to be really careful and not make any wrong turns! i once got lost down there while trying to meet my mom, and i was very pregnant with kardiff, and almost had a PANIC ATTACK because i was like on skid row or something? my heart is beating really fast right now just typing this! well glad you found some "treasures"
